I believe it would be unfair to describe myself without telling where I come from so…
I was born in the city of Indore in Madhya Pradesh and brought up in a small town called Betul. I am the fourth and youngest child after two elder sisters and a brother to my businessman father and homemaker mother. We live in a nuclear family though my extended family of grandparents and four uncles live in the same locality in different houses, therefore, I like to call it a pseudo-joint family setting. I studied in an English medium state board school till my fifth grade and transferred to a CBSE school in the sixth standard where I continued my schooling till tenth grade and then got admitted to a boarding school in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh in 11th where along with schooling we had coaching for pre-medical entrance tests. For my 12th grade, I shifted to the coaching hub of India, Kota Rajasthan and stayed for 2 years including a drop year to prepare for premedical entrance where even though being a good performer I realized medical is not my calling, therefore, started the search for other career prospects. In my drop year, I did a lot of reading in various fields to get an insight on what really makes me tick and I found my real calling in psychology. It answered my lifelong question of why people behave the way they do. Though I wasn't completely convinced with the little information that I got through self-reading I decided to pursue a bachelor's in psychology and hence took admission in Amity Haryana for the same and completed my Masters in Clinical Psychology from Christ (Deemed to be) University.
Who am I?
Most of my close friends would describe me as an enthusiastic, focused, rational, overall achiever, sensitive, empathetic, a ready to help and happy go lucky person with a bit of arrogance, negligence and sometimes a procrastinator. Their views differ significantly because of my unique style of interaction with each of them as I like to give a distinct touch to all my close relationships. The set of traits that I like to define myself in are, knowledgeable, as I rarely pass any good opportunity to learn something new though it may just come out of my mere curiosity and fascination. I am a quick thinker with a flexible mind, coming up with a ton of ideas at any point in time to solve any problem or situational difficulties with excellent brainstorming capacities combining my knowledge and originality. I have received a lot of compliments from people about my charisma, always having my way with my words, easily able to connect with people entertaining and informative at the same time. My real potential and energy comes out when presented with challenging and intriguing problems whereas I can get a bit laid back when the situation is easy to take, letting others associated with me to deal with them.
If I had to define my greatest ‘quirk' it would be my unconstrained rationalism, though it can go wrong with many people who are not very open to accepting innovative ideas but that's what makes me different and unique from others. It can be difficult for some people to understand me and neither have I expected everyone to, but while working with others, I try to put my complex thoughts in a way as simple as possible to avoid any misunderstanding. Most of the time I have a positive outlook towards any stressful situation and try to calm others while devising a plan to deal with it but sometimes I too face a tough time dealing with certain situations and I do not hesitate to ask others for a helping hand.
Why am I the way I am?
I believe one's personality is majorly the manifestation of all the experiences that they gain throughout their lives though there are many other factors that come into play like hereditary, upbringing, environment etc. Being the fourth child, I am the center of attention for my family, both my parents and my siblings worked on my overall development. I was inspired and encouraged to take part in extracurricular activities from a very young age, being on the stage for the first time at the age of three. Leadership is also one of the traits I developed very early in life and have continued to be in that role throughout, from being the class monitor even in primary classes to organizing events and fests at the university level, it came as the byproduct of the confidence boost that I got from my family. Friends and peers become a very important part of a student's life, I was taught to choose my friend circle very carefully, though I did experiments with it and had my fair share of negative company I was fortunate to find a few close friends who always played as a catalyst to my growth. They influenced my life choices right from my favorite genre of music to career prospects and we mutually helped each other to grow as an individual.
My school teachers and faculties have been one of the most influential figures for me. They identified and nurtured my talents right from dramatics, dance, poetry, debating to presenting research papers in International conferences, I could not have been in the position I am today without my mentors.
I was taught to take my independent decisions from very early in life, making mistakes was considered as real learning and even my small victories were celebrated like big events, therefore, I developed a life skill of critically analyzing all the choices that I make, taking well-informed decisions and that is how I became the person I am today.
Now, being at the most important stage of my life, I am very sure that keeping a positive attitude, I can take on any challenge that life throws at me and can turn them into opportunities for learning and development, writing a new page every day In the Book of Life.
